There are at least two pills that a women must take to have the abortion complete. These two pills will completely clear out the uterus and have the baby slowly come out of the women's body. Taking this medication is one of the safer ways to complete and abortion just because there really isn't much of a doctor involved besides a regular check up. If a girl is under 18, she must have her parents permission to complete the abortion. The doctors at the clinic must know the women's medical history, have lab test's done, discuss all options, have a physical exam, and sign all papers agreeing to the abortion. This abortion pill can be taken up to 63 days after a women's last period during her pregnancy. The name of the abortion pill we are discussing is mifepristone. This abortion drug works 97 times out of 100 times. This drug is very effective but there is always a risk of this medication causing serious birth defects if the pregnancy continues. Many women choose this method over others for several reason's. A few of those reason's may be; privacy, no anesthesia, it feels more natural, the woman feels in control, and it can be done early in the pregnancy. Before getting an abortion make sure that you as a parent are informed on what is going on with your body.
Abortion by surgical procedure
Surgical abortions cannot be completed until after 6-7 weeks after your last period during your pregnancy. An abortion can not be completed by medication if the pregnant women is farther than 7 weeks along, that is when the women must turn to a surgical procedure because the baby is not considered an embryo. Normally a surgical abortion will be about 3 to 4 visits to the doctor or even a clinic. In a normal first visit to the doctor the women will have an ultrasound, lab tests done, and a pap smear. The doctor will discuss how the whole procedure will work from beginning to end to make sure that the women feels safer. The patient will have at least 24 hours to decide if this is what they really want to do with their baby. The second appointment will be the actual surgical procedure. The patient will receive a sedative before the procedure to calm their nerves and make everything seem a little bit easier for a few hours. The surgical procedure is when the doctor takes a suctioning device and inserts it inside the women suctioning out the child until it is no longer alive. The women may feel cramping and discomfort for a few days after the procedure. This is normal for some women. After another 24 hours the patient will return and the doctor will surgically remove the fetus from inside the women. After doing this the women is no longer pregnant. During this whole procedure the women never has to see the actual baby that was growing inside of her because the doctor keeps that out of her sight. After any abortion the women may need counseling to help her understand what she has done. It may be to just reassure her that she made the right decision. An abortion during the first trimester, normally cost's about $350-$550. An abortion during the second trimester, normally cost's around $500. An abortion done within the third trimester normally cost's around $600-$700. These prices may also vary depending on doctor or clinic that you may go to. Before getting an abortion make sure that you as a parent are informed on what is going on with your body.
